High Five: Five Reporters We Watch the News For

Controversies in the White House? War in the Middle East? Hurricane flooding and masses of homeless? Yeah, sometimes even we watch broadcast news. So in typical Double Viking fashion, we picked some of the hottest news and sports anchors and present them to you. No need to thank us, just enjoy the show.

Jennifer Eccleston

Eccleston has hit the reporting trifecta by reporting for all three major 24 hours news networks during her career, but it was during her time reporting for CNN in Iraq that she earned herself the nickname "The Desert Fox." She's expressed concern in the past that her looks might get in the way of her reporting, and it's concern that's warranted, but only if you still care about the story once this elegant beauty appears onscreen.

Shanon Cook

You can catch Cook as a correspondent at CNN, where she got her start reporting on entertainment and whatever else they could drum up interest in by lining up her pretty face alongside. You might also recognize her from Command and Conquer 3, where she tests her acting range by playing... ahem... news reporter Cassandra Blair.

Jackie Guerrido

Oh, you didn't think we'd be watching Univision, did you? But how could we fathom getting our weather reports from anyone other than the lovely Jackie Guerrido and her trusty weather balloons. Guerrido has been quoted as saying that, before her responsibilities as weatherperson took control of her life, she exercised four hours a day. That just doesn't seem healthy. But she looks pretty freaking healthy now, doesn't she?

Courtney Friel

A co-anchor for Fox, the Philadelphia-born Friel cut her teeth hosting the World Poker Tour, where she was the probably the object of more jokes about somebody "getting a straight" than she'd care to remember. Friel is something of a rising star in the reporting world, so it wouldn't be a surprise if her March 2006 FHM photo shoot was her last, but we hope it's not.

Melissa Theuriau

You have to have satellite TV and watch news about France in French to see Melissa Theuriau, but it is so worth it. Not since the French kiss has something so utterly sexy come from the land of the frog-eaters. She’s been called the most beautiful newscaster in the world, and we agree 100%. In fact, if it were theoretically possible to agree at levels greater than 100%, we would break down whatever barriers necessary just to do so. We can't understand a word she's saying. And we don't care, because it doesn't matter. If the world comes to an end, we hope Mlle. Theuriau breaks the news so we can all die happy.
