MPAA sues another site for illegal linking

SHOW STASH

By Carl DiOrio
The MPAA has filed a federal lawsuit against ShowStash.com, accusing the Web site of linking to sites that make unauthorized use of copyright material.

The suit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, seeks unspecified damages and injunctive relief. The legal action follows suits filed last month by MPAA members companies against Peekvid.com and YouTVpc.com, which are accused of similar activities.

"ShowStash is a one-stop shop for copyright infringement, and the operators' sole purpose is to disseminate content that has been illegally reproduced and distributed," said John Malcolm, executive vp and director of worldwide anti-piracy at the MPAA. "Sites like ShowStash are breaking the law, and our goal is to put these movie theft 'entrepreneurs' out of business for good."
