Paula Zahn leaves CNN
Brown’s show will start airing in November
CNN’s Paula Zahn will sign off next week, ending nearly six years at the network, sources told Daily Variety.
CNN is expected to announce her departure later today to make way for a new show anchored by former NBC News anchor Campbell Brown.
Zahn joined CNN in 2001, anchored coverage of the Sept. 11 attacks, and launched the ayem show, “American Morning with Paula Zahn.”
CNN shifted Zahn to primetime in 2003 during one of many shakeups to its morning-show cast.
Brown’s show will start airing in November, part of a compromise to gain her release from NBC, which had the right to match any deal offered by CNN.
In the meantime, CNN will air a variety of news programming at 8 pm.
