YouTube Star 'LisaNova' Picked Up By Fox's MADtv
Joining Rocketboom's Amanda Congdon in making the crossover from online video stardom to network television, Lisa Donovan, an alumni of The Daily Reel's Top Ten, will be joining the cast of Fox's Saturday night comedy show.According to a press release from Fox (reproduced on The Futon Critic), Donovan had actually auditioned for MADtv previously, but after the show's casting director took note of her popular YouTube series she was invited to come back and try out again. Donovan's 28 YouTube videos have been viewed, collectively, over 8.6 million times. Her first appearance on the show will be on Feb. 17.
The Daily Reel has long been a champion of LisaNova (her YouTube alias), who first caught our eye with her hilarious spoof of the P. Diddy/Burger King promotion on YouTube (featured here on the left). We quickly recognized Lisa as a budding star -- whose gift for comedic timing and withering impersonations is reminiscent of Julia Louis-Dreyfus -- and featured her next short LisaNova is a B!%@H!!! on the Top Ten. Sketch comedy will hopefully give Lisa a forum to express her boundless talents, and we couldn't be more proud of her.
