Anna Nicole Smith Died From TrimSpa

Friday - February 09, 2007

Waking up late yesterday and hearing that Anna Nicole Smith collapsed and died made me really wonder what a 39 year old person could have died from so abruptly. The coroner did her reprot today and said it would take up to 5 weeks before they got her results back. Surely the public would have new news to talk about in 5 weeks or maybe something was known and just not mentioned. It has been a lot of hell trying to get in contact with some of the people who knew Anna intimately but I was able to talk to a few people about her habits.

It was an overall consensus that Anna Nicole was overly depressed about her weight and figure. She turned to anti-depressants and other drugs to help but it isn't a secret that anti-depressants don't help with weight loss so that was quite a waste of time so she turned to other things. "I think she had too many drugs, just like Danny (Anna Nicole's late son)," her mother told ABC's "Good Morning America" on Friday. "I tried to warn her about drugs and the people that she hung around with. She didn't listen. She was too drugged up.

After battling for the estate of her late husband, billionaire oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall and realizing she would probably not see much if any of the money from that she turned to doing endorsements. With the drugs she was on she lost about 68 pounds in a matter of weeks and took an endorsement deal from TrimSpa.

Under Anna's endorsements TrimSpa grew to be one of the countries largest weight loss supplements. However, as with any weight loss pill there were side effects that plagued the users of TrimSpa. TrimSpa acknowledged these conditions and even offered help to those who were affected. One of these side effects was a swelling of the throat that causes the airway to be blocked. The swelling is made worse by not being able to lay down since the pressure from the swelling could cut off your air supply. TrimSpa's only recommendation to help with the swelling were to drink plenty of fluids. Doing this would keep your throat open.

Yesterday when Anna Nicole collapsed they reported her as having a hard time breathing. Being collapsed she is in a laying down position. When they picked her up in the ambulance she was still alive but put on a stretcher and made to lay down. She died shortly thereafter. Dr. Joshua Perper, the Broward County medical examiner who did the autopsy, said that although toxicology tests are pending, the autopsy found no immediate evidence, either in Smith's stomach or her bloodstream, that she had taken large amounts of prescription medication. He reported signs of inflammation in Smith's heart, possibly caused by difficulty breathing which some people experience after taking large amounts of hoodia, the primary ingredient in TrimSpa's "miracle pill".

Some casual users of TrimSpa and other hoodia products have reported racing hearts, heart palpitations, high blood pressure. If people are following the rules for taking this product and they are experiencing these problems I can only imagine what the effects may be for someone endorsing this product and taking it constantly. Especially someone with a previous drug habit who is afraid of falling back into a depressed and overweight state. Every drug (fen-phen, ephedra) for weight loss has been banned after people used them for months or even years, so why should this one be any different?

I tried contacting TrimSpa on several instances. They had no comment.
