Darkness frontman Justin Hawkins has checked himself into rehab, as his band continues to battle flagging popularity, it has been claimed.

Hawkins is reported to have been admitted to the British rehab clinic the Priory this weekend, and a statement on the group's website confirms he has cancelled all the group's imminent appointments.

The news comes amid rumors that the band isabout to dropped by their label, following disappointing sales of their latest album, One Way Ticket To Hell...And Back.

A source told a U.K. tabloid this morning: "Justin's been feeling really low of late and he wanted to go somewhere he could clear his head. He's been looking terrible at the moment. His skin's taken on a weird yellowy pallor. The Priory really is the best place for him."

A statement, posted on the band's website from his doctor earlier this week, insists Hawkins must rest for the foreseeable future. It reads: "It is of paramount importance that [Justin] rests and recuperates over the next two weeks. I have advised him to cancel all work-related activities."

There has been no official confirmation of the news from the Darkness as yet.
